A guided hike to discover the Northern Coast of Brittany
This walking guided group, with a local Brittany expert, along the Pink Granite Coast, considered as one of the most beautiful coasts in France offers an unusual landscape of strange shaped granite chaos.
The walking level is easy : from 3 to 4h walk per day.
We will explore the famous “douaniers paths” (the Customs footpah) from Tregastel to Perros-Guirec. We will also discover the wild Seven Islands archipelago, a real kingdom for sea birds and penguins and discover the amazing Brehat Island, also called the “flowers island”.
Day 1
Late afternoon arrival in Lannion. Meet your guide and fellow travelers. Discover the old centre of Lannion on your own. Dinner and night in a 3*** hotel in Lannion.
Day 2
Walk round the Ile Grande and inland – 17 km – 4h30 (+150m /-150m) Île-Grande is an island on the north coast of Brittany, linked to the mainland by a road. Its size is about 2 km by 1 km, and there is a village on the island. It is in the commune of Pleumeur-Bodou. Walk around the “island” and then come back inland to the inland megalithic pink standing stone of St Uzec and the 16th century St Samson chapel. Night in a 3*** hotel in Pleumor Bodou
Day 3
La Clarté- Tregastel-Ploumanach-Traouïero Valley- 15 km – 4h00 – (+100m/-100m) Transfer to La Clarté. Walk among matchless chaotic scenery of Pink Granitic Rocks between Tregastel and Ploumanac'h, a former fishermen hamlet. Discover the Traouiero Valley along the river and crossing a chestnut trees forest. Night in a 3*** hotel in Pleumor Bodou
Day 4
The heart of the Pink Rocks -12 km-3 h- (+150m/-150m) This morning the walk follows the “Sentiers des douaniers” (Customs footpath) from Ploumanach to Trestraou Beach in the heart of the Pink Rocks area. The footpath will take you to the oratory of Saint Guirec. Boat crossing to the Seven Islands archipelago, the kingdom of seabirds reserve. (if ever the weather does not allow to cross by boat this walk will be replaced by a coastal walk). Night in a 2** star hotel in Perros Guirrec
Day 5
Port Blanc-Paimpol – 16 km - 4 h- (+200m/-200m) Transfer to Port Blanc, a charming sandy beach resort and authentic peaceful village where you can only hear the noise of the waves, and walk towards the Castle Tip, the most Northern place in Brittany, and then admire the amazing house wedged between the two rocks.Transfer to Paimpol. (4h30 walk). Night in a 2** star hotel in Paimpol
Day 6
Island of Brehat – 12 km – 3h00 - (+150m/-150m) From Paimpol, boat crossing to Brehat island and its numerous peninsulas. The amazing scenery changes with the tide. The low tide discover numerous islets around the island. Transfer to Lannion. Back to the train station or you can choose to stay one more night in Lannion.
