Bike tour in France and Switzerland - From Strasbourg to Basel
From the European Capital of Strasbourg to the 3rd City of Switzerland, Basel this 6 riding day holiday crosses France and picturesque Alsace. It first follows the Wine Road and the scenic landscape composed by charming villages and hilly vineyards, then reach the beautiful city of Colmar, ride through the Hardt forest. A gentle, flat ride takes cyclists to the former fortified town of Neuf-Brisach, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where a number of cultural sights - like the Vauban Museum - are well worth a visit.
Charming villages with half-timbered houses with the vineyards as a backdrop, but also beautiful cities like Colmar the tanner’s district, the high wood framing houses and half timbered houses, mostly dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Mulhouse and its 17 buildings classified on the French Historic Heritage List, Strasbourg and its impressive Cathedral,Basel where you can find buildings dating back as far as the 15th century but also fabulous modern buildings designed by world-renowned architects. Many sightseeings along this route and a good waymarking. The terrain is mainly flat and easy with short hilly parts on the Wine road.

Day 1
Arrival in Strasbourg.
Leave your baggage at the hotel and take the time to visit the “Little France” and the Cathedral.
Day 2
Strasbourg-Obernai – 37 km (22 miles)
The Canal of the Bruche was formely used to take the wine to the Capital. Today a cycle lane follows the Canal from Stasbourg to Molsheim. Admire the 12th century church of Rosheim before spending the night in Obernai.
Day 3
Obernai – Riquewirh – 50 km (31 miles)
The cycle track crosses the famous vineyards and villages which are among the most handsome in Alsace : Mittelbergheim, Andlau, Itterswiller, Dambach-la-ville, Ribeauvillé, Riquewirh
Day 4
Riquewirh- Colmar – 38 km (23 miles)
Ammerschwirh and its famous “Cru” of Kaefferkopf and the wine villages of Turckheim and Eguisheim are the next stages before reaching Colmar in the early afternoon
Day 5
Colmar - Guebwiller/Mulhouse ≈ 50/76 km
Rest day in Colmar or Roundtrip to Guebwiller/Mulhouse + return by train
From Colmar you go to the south along the Alsace Wine Route and its typical villages. From Guebwiller, you
cycle to Bollwiller and take the train or continue to Ungersheim, until the Ecomusee d’Alsace. From there,
the cycle path guides you directly to Mulhouse. Return to Colmar by train
Day 6
Colmar – Area Mulhouse ≈ 66 km
From Colmar head East to Neuf Brisach, then continue towards the south to reach the gentle village of Ottmarsheim with its 12th century nice church. Next you enter the Hardt’s forest then you go along the
Huningue’s canal to reach Mulhouse. After enjoying the historic town center of Mulhouse, there are numerous museums to visit.
Day 7
Mulhouse – Basel – 53 km (32 miles)
Follow the Canal and the EuroVelo 6 and cross the bridge called “of the 3 countries” to reach the Swiss city of Basel.
Day 8
End of your tour after breakfast.
