Walk on GR65 - self guided walking on the Puy Route from Moissac to Aire sur Adour
After the White Quercy, a few km later you are getting close to the Tarn Valley and Moissac. The GR65 from Moissac offers the lush orchards of Gascony.This is the cradle of D’Artagnan, one of the famous Three Musketeers characters by Alexandre Dumas This land is punctuated with castles and medieval chapels and is proud of its renowned gastronomy!
Day 1
Arrive in MOISSAC.
Day 2
MOISSAC - AUVILLAR - 21 km - 5 h 00 walk
Night in Auvillar –Hotel in the center ot the town -Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
The Camino follows the rivers all day long until the last part of the day when you will climb up the street entering
into Auvillar and its the charming cobblestone square, with its ancient circular open hall and arcades. Night in
Auvillar.
Day 3
AUVILLAR - MIRADOUX – 17 KM – 4H15 walk
Night in Miradoux in a Guest House- Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
Stage between the Tarn and the Garonne Rivers which marks the entrance in Gascony, Romanesque
Churches,and remarkable fortified “Bastides” towns.
Day 4
MIRADOUX - LECTOURE - 15 km - 4H00 walk
Night in Lectoure ***3 star hotel- Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
A stage up and down the gentle hills of the Gers into the deep France (often compared with Tuscany)
Day 5
LECTOURE - LA ROMIEU - 19 km - 5h00 walk
Night in La Romieu in a Guest House - Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
Today you will pass by Morsolan and a St James Hospital. From the terrace the view overlooks the green valley.
Arrive in La Romieu and visit the magnificent Collégiale St. Pierre, a 14th-century cloister with a tower (Unesco
Heritage)
Day 6
LA ROMIEU-CONDOM - 16 km - 4h00 walk
Night in Condom in a Guest House
Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
The walk continues through the Armagnac region.
Day 7
CONDOM – MONTREAL- 17 km - 4h15 walk
Night in Montreal in a Guest House- Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
In this stage you have the option to visit Larresingle, a 13th century village which is out of the GR (+2km).
Day 8
MONTREAL-EAUZE- 16 km - 4h00 walk
Night in Eauze- Hotel in the center of the town- Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
Leave Montreal, one of the first bastides (1289) of the Gers “department” to reach Eauze,the present capital of
Armagnac.
A variant of the GR will take you to Seviac, a hamlet with rich Gallo Roman excavations (4th century mosaics)
Day 9
EAUZE-NOGARO - 20 km - 5h00 walk
Night in Nogaro- ***3 star hotel -Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
Take the time to stroll around between the elegant bell tower and the House “Jeanne d’Albret”, Henry IV ‘s
mother, where the “Bon Roi” Henry stayed in 1579.
Day 10
NOGARO – BARCELONNE DU GERS - 26 km - 6h30 walk
Night in Barcelonne du Gers in a Guest House- Half board (dinner, night and breakfast)
You walk across a chesnut-tree woodland which quickly turns into maritime pine-tree forest while approaching the
cultivated the Adour River valley
Day 11
End of the walk after breakfast.
