All along the GR34 footpath encircling the whole Brittany the landscape is stunning. In this self-guided hiking tour around Brittany you will start from Saint Malo and reach Saint Brieuc in 7 walking days. The pathways follow the dramatic Emerald Coast and the famous Frehel Cap and the outstanding pink cliffs of Erquy.These Natural sites have been on Unesco List since the 70s. Seabirds Reserve, fortified places as Fort La Latte and renown sea resorts are the backdrop of this hiking tour that will enjoy Nature lovers.
The GR34 is a trail also called the Sentier des Douaniers or Smugglers footpath following the 1800 km of coastline in Brittany.

Level of Hiking : Level 2 +. Each day the elevation gains can vary from 300 to 500m (ups and downs). The average walking time is 5 hours per day.
Day 1
Arrive in Saint-Malo with the TGV.
Night in a hotel in the fortified city.
Day 2
Saint Malo - Dinard to Saint Briac -17 km – 10.55 miles- Descent -230m - Ascent +225m
Cross over to the elegant sea resort of Dinard with the seabus and walk to Saint Briac.
Day 3
Saint Briac sur Mer to Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer – 20 km -10.55 miles - Descent 145m - Ascent 130m (variant trail depending on the tide schedule : it can be longer up to 3 km)
The footpath goes round the Lancieux Bay towards Saint Jacut de la Mer.Outstanding views over the Hebihens Islands.
Day 4
Saint-Jacut de la Mer to Saint-Cast – 18 km – 11.8 miles - Descent -275m - Ascent +275m
Walk around the Arguenon Bay up to the 7 sandy beaches of the peninsula of Saint Cast le Guildo.
Day 5
Saint-Cast to Petit-Trécelin - 18km – 9.94 miles - Descent -295 - Ascent +285m Walk around Fresnaye Bay via Port Saint Jean and Petit Trecelin. This immense bay is a suitable place for mussel and oyster farming. Dinner included.
Day 6
Petit-Trécelin to Sables-d'Or-les-Pins
The Cap Frehel outstanding Natural site. 70 m high cliffs. 25km - 15.50 miles -Descent -460m - Ascent +400m
Cap Frehel is a bird paradise and one of the most impressive sites of Brittany with 70 m high cliffs overloooking the sea. Fort La Latte is also a must see today. It has been used as a shooting location for numerous films.
Day 7
Sables-d'Or-les-Pins to Pléneuf-Val-André - 24km - 16.80 miles - Descent 440m - Ascent 440m
Walk via the Erquy Cape to the sea resort of Pleneuf Val André. Here Nature is preserved : moorlands, pink sandstone cliffs and coast, emerald waters, pine woods, dunes, a place full of History along the “douaniers” footpath. The Erquy Cape has been a classified site since 1977.
Day 8
Pléneuf-Val-André to Morieux + short transfer to St Brieuc
The charming port of Dahouët and the bay of Morieux. 16.5 km – 9.94 miles - Descent 400m - Ascent 350m. Short transfer to Saint-Brieuc.
